The best badminton equipment for beginners

If you're new to badminton, it can be difficult to know which equipment to choose. Fortunately, you don't need the most expensive equipment to get off to a good start. With the right badminton racket, a good pair of badminton shoes, and the right accessories, you'll have the best start on the court.

In this guide, we review the badminton equipment we recommend for beginners.

Choose the right badminton racket

The most important part of your badminton equipment is undoubtedly the racket. As a beginner, you should choose a model that is easy to play with and helps you develop your technique.

At Li-Ning, it's fortunately easy to find the right model.

Li-Ning Bladex

The Bladex series is developed with a focus on fast swings and good control. The series starts with Bladex 100 and goes up to Bladex 900. The higher the model number, the more advanced the technologies and playing characteristics become.

If you are a beginner, we recommend looking at Bladex 100, 200 or 500.

Li-Ning AXForce

The AXForce series is designed for players who want more power. The series starts with AXForce 10 and goes up to AXForce 100.

As a beginner, you don't need the top models. AXForce 10, 20 or 30 are obvious choices as they are easier to play with and provide good assistance with strokes.

Li-Ning Halbertec

The Halbertec series combines control and power, ranging from Halbertec 1000 to Halbertec 9000.

If you're new to badminton, we recommend the lower model numbers, which offer a more forgiving playing experience.

Badminton Shoes

As a beginner, you won't demand the same from your shoes as an elite player, as your footwork isn't yet as fast or explosive. Therefore, you don't need to choose the most expensive model.

However, badminton shoes are a bit different from badminton rackets. With a racket, choosing a top model as a beginner can actually be a disadvantage, as top models are often designed for advanced players and require more technique. When it comes to badminton shoes, however, choosing a better model is never a disadvantage. On the contrary, you often get more comfort, better shock absorption, and increased stability, which can benefit all players – regardless of skill level.

Therefore, we recommend choosing badminton shoes with good comfort, stability, and shock absorption to give you the best conditions for developing your game.

Badminton Grip

A good grip makes it both more comfortable and safer to play badminton. When the grip becomes slippery, it becomes harder to control the racket.

Therefore, we always recommend having an extra overgrip on hand, so you can easily replace it when it gets worn.

Badminton Socks

Many forget about socks, but they are very important for comfort.

A pair of slightly thicker badminton socks provides better support and can help reduce the risk of blisters when you move around the court.

Badminton Bag

A badminton bag makes it easy to transport your equipment to and from the hall.

Even a smaller bag has room for rackets, shoes, towels, water bottles, and other necessary equipment.
